TREY SPRUANCE | On Secret Chiefs 3 Supporting Dead Cross and Future Projects
Secret Chiefs 3 have been announced as support on the Dead Cross Tour this summer.
We spoke to Trey Spruance about this fantastic line-up and his busy schedule of work.
"It's exciting! It kind of fell into my lap right in the middle of a TON of deadline work." Trey enthused. "A couple of months ago I heard the Dead Cross album and was totally into it - a seriously great, weird, well-put together record! Then I get this offer I can't refuse. What an amazing bill to be on! As you can imagine, I had no plans to tour until the Holy Vehm and Folio B albums could be finalized, which would take place in late Summer/Fall and Winter respectively - so now I'm putting a band together instead of following that schedule... because hell yes."
Trey is extremely busy finishing some amazing projects, including putting the finishing touches on a Masada record, and 3D mixes of SC3 which Trey explains are "for a 148 speaker array immersive listening environment called 'the Cube' at Virginia Tech. It's a very exciting development which holds a lot of promise over the long term. I'm partnering with a researcher and his team there who wants to use SC3 music to demo massive 3D listening experiences with these kinds of systems. As a proto-spatialist in my mixes, I've been dreaming of the day this could happen, so as you can imagine I'm ALL IN."
Trey is happy to be so busy and confident SC3 fans will be happy too. "Yes, timing-wise it's a bit overwhelming at the moment, as my immediate concern is for Masada, which is two years in the making with a July 1 deadline, then I'll switch full time back to Cube mixes which I need to have together by mid-July, and then it's straight to preparing for the Dead Cross tour. After that, I can get to go back to what I was doing before, i.e finishing the Holy Vehm and Folio B albums! Any timing setbacks on that in my mind will have been well worth it because these amazing surprise summer detours are the best kind of omens SC3 fans could have asked for."
Secret Chiefs 3 will support Dead Cross on these dates.
