FAITH NO MORE released 'Sol Invictus' 4 years ago!
Wow...can you believe it's been 4 years since Faith No More their 7th record! Sol Invictus saw a worldwide release on May 19th via their own imprint Reclamation.
"Everything is represented on this album. You’ve got our singer, Mike [Patton], with his range of talents and breadth of skills. Our bass player is particularly talented at creating these atmospheres and environments with his production and arrangements. Everyone’s ideas are in this record. There’s enough rock, there’s enough crunch, there’s enough melody, there’s enough darkness. All the elements are there." - Mike Bordin
The album was a triumph, an expression of a united and matured band who had continued with their ability to evolve from record to record. This was not the album some were hoping for but it was the album FNM worked hard to create. Each and every FNM album is radically different to its predecessor while retaining that unmistakable sound of five individual and unique musicians. On Sol Invictus Mike Patton brought his immeasurable experience from countless and varied projects, Bill Gould added his skills as a producer whilst retaining his instantly recognisable sound, Roddy Bottum lent his classical talents and provided live piano never before captured on a FNM album, Mike Bordin reminded us of his expert precision and Jon Hudson proved his ability to be a team player and solidified his place in the band. The core members (Gould, Bottum and Bordin) certainly reaffirmed their expertise in songwriting.

The Next Album?
Traditionally FNM left 2 to 3 years between recording their next record, so in theory we are overdue due album number 8 , however FNM have never adhered to any blueprint and always found ways to be unpredictable....that's why we love them.
How hopeful can we be for a new album? Well at the moment it seems to be unlikely. Patton is facing a busy year with new Dead Cross, Mondo Cane live and his project with Jean-Claude Vannier. We also know that there is a Tomahawk album on the horizon so that could keep the man of a thousand voices busy in 2020. Roddy is finding satisfaction in his many varied projects including a new Imperial Teen album and live shows. Bill is bust in the studio with a new Talking Book record in the works. All this pulls a united FNM further apart, for the moment.
In 2016 Jon told us, "Actually, I am working on a few ideas right now. It's something that I wanted to focus on after the tour ended, so it's a good place to be in. I'll probably take stock and see what comes of it sooner rather than later, so we'll see."
In 2017 Patton remarked that FNM were, "... kind of on a extended break and if something happens, it'll happen organically and naturally but I kind of don't think it will. I kind of feel like we've tipped the scales a little bit, but we'll see, who knows? I've learned my lesson not to say No."
In 2018 Bill told Kerrang! "We talk all the time. Are we still a band? I can't tell you. Last time around, we didn't even tell our wives that we were making music again, so I'm fucked if I'm going to tell you!"
And when asked about another album, "That I don't know. I'm open to any outcome. If we do another one It'll be because we're 100 per cent behind it if not, I don't see the point. There's so much shit out there and so much noise, the world doesn't need a half-hearted Faith No More record."
This month Bill side-stepped the question of new FNM music during an interview with Australian radio station Double J.
It's in the band's nature to keep us guessing, but the odds are stacked against the chance of a new album any time soon. However this is FAITH NO MORE and we can only expect the unexpected. Happy anniversary Sol Invictus.....

While fish oil supplements contain the “brain healthy” fats called EPA and DHA, those two are not technically the “essential” fats. The plant omega-3 known as ALA is essential and that is because our bodies can convert ALA into EPA and DHA when necessary.ReplyDelete
The families those adopt these dogs have my full respect. I was reading stories online regarding a family that adopted a pair of dogs, one was blind and the other was his buddy who used to guide him through the ways. The reason why the family adopted both of them was because of the bond these two dogs had with each other.ReplyDelete
