The MC50 tour featuring Bill Gould has officially kicked off. The band played September 5th at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale and September 6th on the Backyard Stage at St. Augustine Amphitheatre Florida.

Backed by an all-star band that included vocalist Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi) and Billy Gould (Faith No More), Kramer, 70, was a nimble and coercive presence while unloading the classic MC5 album “Kick Out the Jams” in front of a raucous crowd of about 500 people in opening the North American leg of the tour.
The dynamic interplay between Kramer and Thayil carried the evening, with a sonic détente that defied the years between them. The snake-hipped Durant was a revelation, dark glasses in constant battle with a mushroom of hair that demanded to know, “Are you experienced?”
